OUTREACH MISSIONS OF FIRST BAPTIST CHURCH NORWOOD
First Baptist Church is a church with a heart for Missions. Several months throughout the year are designated for specific causes.
If you need food, clothing or other help please send an email to the church.
April – Food Drive for Ecumenical Community Food Pantry of Norwood. This Pantry provides food twice a month for qualifying Norwood residents
May – RMMO (Retired Ministers and Missionaries Fund). This is in recognition of those who have dedicated their lives to working in the “fields” all over the world to bring souls to Christ.
June – Mission Honduras. We provide funds to help build the schools and purchase school supplies. We also help to provide much needed food and clothing for the students.
July – Mission Haiti. This is another of the countries we help with school supplies, food, medical supplies and other necessities.
August – One Great Hour of Sharing. Many disasters take place all over the world. This collection is sent to whichever country has the greatest need at this time.
September – World Missions Offering. This is another offering that is sent to whichever area is experiencing a disaster at this time.
October/November – The Christmas Child gift boxes are distributed early in October with suggestions for the kinds of small toys, hygiene products and school supplies that will fit in the boxes. They need to be returned the first week in November and are then dedicated and brought to a collection depot and sent to the Samaritan’s Purse for distribution to children all over the world.
November – Financial Collection for the Ecumenical Community Food Pantry of Norwood. By taking a money collection at this time of the year, it allows the volunteers at the Pantry to purchase items they are short of.
On occasions during the year, we will run a different type of collection for the local residents of Norwood who may be in need of clothing or toys for their children at Christmas time. We try to be in tune with the town and be able to help in any way we are able.
Our hearts are lifted when we are able to be part of helping our brothers and sisters in their need around the world.
Generosity: I have shown you in every way, by laboring like this , that you must support the weak. And remember the words of the Lord Jesus, that He said, “It is more blessed to give than to receive.” Acts 20:35
